Smart speaker manufacturer Sonos has announced that owners of its devices are now able to listen to Audible through the Sonos platform. The new service was rolled out on March 20 and is available through both the Sonos and the Audible apps.
Sonos is a company that makes smart speakers with high-quality audio. The Sonos One smart speaker was the first by the brand to feature a voice assistant and when it was released it had support for Amazon Alexa out of the box.
The fact that Audible is owned by Amazon means that it is perhaps not surprising that Audible is now also available through Sonos speakers. While Sonos owners can currently only play Audible books via the app, Sonos did say that Alexa voice support will soon follow.
Given that other smart speakers such as the Amazon Dot/Echo and Google Home already have support for audio books, adding Audible support could be a useful addition to the feature set offered by Sonos.
Sonos owners who sign up to Audible through the Sonos app will also get two free credits for the service (one credit=one book), and a free book, Miles: The Autobiography of Miles Davis. Considering that the first month of the trial is free, that would seem like a pretty good way to get started.
