Honor 7A leaks show off tall display and godforsaken micro USB port

Honor 7A Slashleaks

  • Renders and specifications of the Honor 7A have reportedly surfaced.
  • According to the leaks, the Honor 7A will feature a tall display and facial recognition.
  • The Honor 7A will allegedly launch on March 30 for under $250.

Huawei sub-brand Honor might have another affordable smartphone on the way as a new leak appears to have outed the design and specifications of the Honor 7A.

According to Slashleaks, the Honor 7A will sport a 5.7-inch display with a 1,440 x 720 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Also around front is reportedly an 8MP camera with LED flash, while a dual 13MP and 2MP camera sits around back.

Under the hood, the Honor 7A will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of native storage, and a 3,000mAh battery. We do not know if the phone will support microSD cards, though it seems to feature a micro USB port for charging and syncing.

Based on the leaked image, the Honor 7A will not have a fingerprint sensor. Supposedly in its place is facial recognition for authentication, along with the usual array of pattern, pin, and swipe methods.

Another nice inclusion is the rumored stereo speakers. Since the image above does not show two speakers on the front, we presume the earpiece will double as a speaker while the second speaker sits next to the microUSB port.

Finally, the Honor 7A will reportedly run EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

If the leaks are correct, Honor will announce the smartphone this Friday, March 30 with a price of 1,499 yuan (~$239) through China Telecom. We will keep a close eye on things over the next few days and update this article when we hear more.
