New Xiaomi phone, possibly the Mi A2, leaked online

  • A new TENAA listing gives information on a new Xiaomi phone, possibly the Mi A2.
  • Since the Mi A1 was just a Mi 5X with a different version of Android, it's also possible the phone is the Xiaomi Mi 6X.
  • The phone doesn't have a notch, and has a 5.99-inch display in an 18:9 aspect ratio.

A TENAA listing posted today (via Slashleaks) has revealed an upcoming Xiaomi handset, which could be either the Xiaomi Mi A2 (the follow-up to the Mi A1) or the Xiaomi Mi 6X (the follow up to last year's Mi 5X).

The Xiaomi Mi A1 gets the "A1" moniker from the fact that it's an Android One device, which means that it runs a nearly stock version of the operating system. However, the device is merely a Xiaomi Mi 5X with the MIUI Android skin taken out and Android One put in, so this new device leaked on TENAA could be either or.

The TENAA listing only says "Android" in the operating system category, which doesn't really help us nail anything down. However, it does list that the phone will have a 5.99-inch display, a 2,910mAh battery, and the full dimensions will be 158.8 x 75.54 x 7.3mm.

Slashleaks nabbed some images of the device as well. To make things even more confusing, the photos make the device look very similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. But we know it is not an update to the Redmi Note line, because the Note 5 and Note 5 Pro just came out earlier this month.

One thing you'll be happy to note from the images is that the phone does not appear to have a notch, but still keeps the 18:9 aspect ratio. So those of you out there looking for a phone that doesn't have a notch, you can add this one to your list of potentials.

Xiaomi will launch the Mi Mix 2S tomorrow, and it's unlikely it will also announce whatever device this is at the same event. Eventually, though, there will either be a Xiaomi Mi 6X or Mi A2 for sale (or maybe both?), so be on the lookout!
