Xiaomi broadens product portfolio with Mi Gaming Laptop and Mi AI Speaker Mini

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop and Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker Mini at its Shanghai product launch event today. The devices appeared alongside the new Mi Mix 2S smartphone and represent (almost) new product categories for the company.

This is both the first "gaming" laptop and first "mini" smart speaker that Xiaomi has produced, though we don't yet know all the regions in which they'll be available (they're exclusive to China at launch).

The Mi Gaming Laptop features a 15.6-inch Full-HD display with 7th gen Intel Core i7 or i5 CPU and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 or Geforce GTX 1050i graphics card (depending on the model). Various memory configurations will be available, but to a 16 GB RAM model with 256 GB SSD and 1TB HDD.

Port configuration details are yet to arrive, though the laptop will feature a 16 million color professional gaming keyboard with four customizable zones and 5 programmable macro keys.

As you can see in the pictures, this is a slimline laptop, coming in at just 20.9mm thick, but it weighs a reasonably hefty 2.7kg.

The Mi Gaming Laptop will be released on April 13 for RMB 8,999 (~$1430) for the GTX 1060 model + 16 GB RAM model, while it will cost RMB 5,999 (~$955) for the GTX 1050 Ti + 8 GB RAM version.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi's Mi AI Speaker Mini, this is a smaller version of Xiaomi's other smart speaker and more like an Amazon Echo Dot or Google Home Mini competitor. It will act in the same way as Xiaomi's regular smart speaker, allowing you to set reminders and get traffic alerts etc, those its audio chops won't be quite as good. Xiaomi says it's also coming with access to 35 million books and songs.

The Mi AI speaker will cost CNY 169 (~$27), but we don't yet know if it will be available outside of China.
