Google's ARCore might be the new kid on the block, but Daydream VR continues to be an option for those who want to immerse themselves into their content. Those folks will likely enjoy Best Buy's 50 percent discount on the latest Daydream View VR headset, which brings the price down to $49.50.
The new price should satisfy those who thought the original $99 price tag was hard to swallow. Indeed, the Daydream View was a tad overpriced for something that amounts to a smartphone holder for VR content.
Then again, this is the upgraded Daydream View that was announced alongside the Pixel 2 and Google Home Mini. Apart from sharp looks, the VR headset sports a wider field of view for greater immersion, a dedicated slot for the controller, and a removable, over-the-top head strap for added security.
The Daydream View and accompanying controller come in three colors, all of which Best Buy discounted. We do not know how long the discount will last, though the Fog color is sold out as of this writing. Also, none of the colors are available for in-store pickup.
As a final note, only smartphones that are Daydream-ready are compatible with the Daydream View headset. The list of supported smartphones include every Pixel smartphone, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, Zenfone AR, Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Mate 9 Pro, Porsche Design Mate 9, and Axon 7.
