All Note 8 devices in the US to receive Oreo within 2-3 weeks

  • In a post on its US forum, a Samsung moderator said that all Note 8 devices should receive Oreo within 2-3 weeks.
  • The first sign of Oreo for the Note 8 came last week when users in France began to receive the update.
  • The Oreo update will also come with Samsung Experience 9.0.

Following the arrival of Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8 in France just last week, Samsung has announced that all eligible Note 8 (and S8/S8 Plus) devices in the US should receive Oreo within the next two to three weeks. While no date is mentioned as the beginning of the roll-out,  March 28 has previously been mentioned by the company.

In a post on the Samsung forum in the US, a moderator explained that while those who have carrier models are likely to see the update first, unlocked models should not be far behind. The same post explained that the reason for this is that "Unlocked devices must go through more rigorous testing than Carrier-specific devices because we need to make sure there is proper network functionality across ALL supported networks."

The Oreo update has already rolled out to many carrier versions of the Galaxy S8 in the US.

This will mark the end of a long wait for Galaxy Note 8 users. Oreo was already out when the Note 8 was first released and it will have been another six months by the time the update actually rolls out.

Alongside Oreo, Samsung will also include Samsung Experience 9.0 with the update. This is an update to the user interface of the phone which will bring changes including a revamp of the Samsung keyboard, a new way to search on your phone, and the addition of Color Lens which Samsung says can help prevent eye strain.
