File Transfer...... MANY MANY PROBLEMS

So I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S2, (I know) and I'm trying to transfer files from a computer to my phone, for music. I plug in the phone and it says connected as media device (on rare occasions it doesn't?), but the computer doesn't install it, so the phone doesn't show up under Computer...
