You'll find a single 10MP shooter on the front of the S10, while its bigger brother comes with an additional 8MP sensor.

4. Huawei Mate 20 series

Huawei Mate 20 triple camera

Huawei's Mate 20 series consists of three phones with triple-camera setups: the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 X. The Mate 20 Pro is the best of the series. It sports an 8MP 3x telephoto sensor with OIS and f/2.4 aperture, a 40MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, and a 20MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 16mm focal length equivalent. For more details on the camera, check out our review here.

The Mate 20's triple-camera setup is a bit different: it consists of a 12MP primary f/1.8 sensor, a 16MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP telephoto sensor (f/2.4).

The last of the three Mate phones — Mate 20 X — is aimed at gamers. It features the same camera setup as the Pro model, a massive 7.21-inch display, and a 5,000mAh battery. The device also has a new graphene-based cooling system — a first for the smartphone industry — to provide superior cooling during long play sessions.

5. Sony Xperia 1

Sony Xperia 1

Sony took a big step forward this year with the announcement of the Sony Xperia 1. The phone comes with the Snapdragon 855 chipset, a 6.5-inch 21:9 display, and a triple-camera setup offering a wide, a standard, and a telephoto lens. All three cameras have 12MP sensors.

Editor's Pick

The flagship sports a modern design and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The battery comes in at 3,300mAh, which isn't that impressive given the size of the device. Other specs and features include 6GB of RAM, the latest version of Android, and expandable storage.

Sony Xperia 1 specs:

  • Display: 6.5-inch, 4K
  • SoC: Snapdragon 855
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 64/128GB
  • Rear cameras: 12, 12, and 12MP
  • Front camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 3,300mAh
  • Software: Android 9.0 Pie

6. Huawei P30

Huawei P30 back 1

Those who want something newer than the Mate 20 series can also go for the Huawei P30. The Pro version upgrades you to a four camera setup, but the standard device also costs much less and is still an amazing smartphone.

The Huawei P30 comes with three cameras: a standard 40MP f/1.8, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto, and an ultra-wide with a 16MP sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. Though it doesn't have the impressive 5x optical periscope zoom of the P30 Pro, the P30's 3x optical zoom lens is nothing to scoff at.

The P30 uses a specialized RYB filter array for its sensor, capturing more detail than a standard RGB filter array. This results in some incredibly sharp images, especially via the 40MP sensor, where the phone will bin (combine) pixels to produce a detailed 10MP image by default.

Huawei P30 specs:

  • Display: 6.1-inch, 2,340 x 1.080
  • SoC: Kirin 980
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 128GB
  • Rear cameras: 8, 16, and 40MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 3,650mAh
  • Software: Android 9.0 Pie

7. OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus 7 Pro phone angled on table back

While the OnePlus 7 Pro can't get close to the best in the industry, the camera is pretty good, and the rest of the phone offers enough value to push the phone into this list. The build quality, design, and clean user interface are outstanding.

OnePlus has adopted the three-camera configuration on the back of this phone. You'll find a standard, wide-angle, and telephoto trio with various resolutions and apertures. The versatility three lenses afford you is amazing, and I can't see myself going back to a two-lens setup, let alone a single lens.

OnePlus 7 Pro specs:

  • Display: 6.67-inch, 3,120 x 1,440
  • SoC: SD 855
  • RAM: 6/8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Rear cameras: 8, 16, and 48MP
  • Front camera: 16MP
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • Software: Android 9.0 Pie

8. ZTE Axon 10 Pro

ZTE Axon 10 Pro design

There isn't much about the ZTE Axon 10 Pro that is unique, but for the money, it packs quite the punch. You're getting top-tier specifications, a large battery, triple cameras, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a clean Android software experience, and modern hardware.

The camera setup includes a 48MP main camera, an 8MP telephoto shooter, and a third wide-angle camera with a 20MP sensor. Bundled with a Snapdragon 855, up to 12GB of RAM, and a 4,000mAh battery, this is a phone you can't go wrong with.

ZTE Axon 10 Pro specs:

  • Display: 6.47-inch, FHD+ 2,340 x 1,080
  • SoC: SD 855
  • RAM: 6/8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Rear cameras: 8, 20, and 48MP
  • Front camera: 20MP
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • Software: Android 9.0 Pie

These are the best phones with a triple-camera setup in our opinion. We'll be updating this list as new devices come to market.
