The Xiaomi Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition is pretty wai-fugly

Xiaomi has announced a new limited edition version of the Mi 6X and… well, just look at it. The Xiaomi Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition goes on sale in China from July 10 and will retail for 2,099 yuan (~$317).

The "unique" phone is the result of another partnership between Xiaomi and Vocaloid — the creators of the singing synthesizer tools that power the titular blue-haired virtual J-popstar, Hatsune Miku.

Editor's Pick

The Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition packs the same specs as the mid-tier vanilla model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage. Elsewhere the phone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display, a 12MP and 20MP dual-lens rear camera with AI features, and a rear fingerprint scanner.

The biggest draw for J-pop fans, however, is the special edition's design and extras. The special edition device comes in a bright turquoise shade with a stencil-like portrait of Hatsune Miku on the rear and exclusive Miku-inspired UI themes. The package also comes in a collectible box which contains a 10,000mAh power bank, a case, and a gift card.

Only 5,000 units will be produced, so if you're a Hatsune Miku megafan, you might want to get your order in early. As for the rest of us… look, I love anime, but you couldn't pay me to use this hideous thing.

This isn't the first time Xiaomi has embraced Miku fever, as the Chinese OEM previously released a special edition Hatsune Miku Redmi Note 4X last year.

What do you make of the Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition? Is it kawaii or kawa-eww? Let us know in the comments!
