The Acer Leap Ware is a fitness-themed smartwatch due in July for $139

Acer's press event in New York City earlier today showed off a bunch of new and upcoming products from the Taiwan-based company. One of these products is a new fitness-themed smartwatch called the Acer Leap Ware (no, that's not a typo) that will be priced at just $139.

Acer previously released the Liquid Leap+, a fitness smart band in 2015. The new Leap Ware looks more like a smartwatch, with a stainless steel round frame that resembles the old Pebble Time Round device. The Leap Ware has a 1.6-inch display covered in Gorilla Glass SR+ for scratch prevention, and an IPX7 water resistance rating in case you want to run in the rain.

The smartwatch has a MediaTek MT2523 chipset inside that powers its many fitness sensors. Acer says it can monitor an owner's heart rate, stamina, stress and fatigue levels, and even exposure to ultraviolet rays. The battery life is supposed to last between three to five days on a single charge.

The Acer Leap Ware can pair up with an Android or iOS smartphone via the company's Liquid Life app, so the smartwatch can get calls or text notifications from the phone on its screen. All of the fitness data collected by the smartwatch will be stored on the app, and owners can even set fitness goals from within the app as well. The Leap Ware will come with a choice of Navy Blue or Light Brown bands, but is also compatible with any 20 mm watch band.

If you think the Acer Leap Ware is your next smartwatch, you won't have long to wait to get it. The company plans to begin selling it in July in the US and other select markets.
