- Oppo confirmed to Android Authority that the Find X will not launch in the U.S.
- Oppo did not specify why it decided to not launch the Find X in the U.S.
- Because Oppo announced Find X availability for North America, the phone could still launch in Mexico and Canada.
Even though Oppo announced that its visually stunning Find X would launch in North America, the company confirmed to Android Authority that the phone will not launch in the U.S.
PCMag's Sascha Segan initially broke the news on Twitter and said the Find X would still launch in Europe. Reached for comment, Oppo confirmed the news and said it is "focusing on the markets we already entered, including Europe."
Hate the break it to you folks but @OPPO tells me the Find X is NOT coming to the US. It's a super-cool, innovative product, but they aren't ready to deal with our market yet. Yes on Europe though.

Oppo was careful with its wording and said it does not have plans to enter the U.S. "for now." That leaves the door open for a potential launch in the future, though details on if or when that could happen are very slim.
There could be numerous reasons why the Find X would not be Oppo's first salvo at the U.S. smartphone market. The company is a blip on the radar in the West, so entering the U.S. with a $1,000 smartphone might not be the smartest move.
More significantly, Oppo might be fully aware of Huawei and ZTE's recent experiences in the U.S. Five of the country's lawmakers recently asked Google to reconsider its relationship with Huawei, while ZTE was slapped with a supply ban that forced it to temporarily cease operations.
ZTE's ban is in the process of being lifted, but the current climate in the U.S. would not make it easy for a large Chinese manufacturer like Oppo to succeed.
That leaves us with the question of where in North America the Find X will launch in. Candidates include Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, though only time will tell which countries will get the phone.
