  • Current stable version: Android 9 Pie, Android 10
  • When will the Galaxy Note 9 get Android 10? January 2020 (estimated)

The Galaxy Note 9 arrived with Android Oreo on August 24. It started to receive Android Pie, the latest version of Android, in February. Android 10 is expected to be the last major software update it receives.

In June 2019, the Galaxy Note 9 received an update that brought a Night mode for the camera app. Other additions in this update included a QR scanning functionality in the camera app.

Samsung announced the availability of the One UI 2.0 beta for the Note 9 in South Korea on November 20 (h/t: SamMobile). The same was later rolled out to users in the UK. Just over a week later, the December security patch landed on Note 9 devices in Germany. This was quite remarkable considering it was still November and Google Pixel devices hadn't even seen the update yet.

After the rollout in South Korea and UK, the Galaxy Note 9 started receiving the One UI 2.0 beta update in India. A Reddit post was also spotted suggesting that US Galaxy Note 9 users are next in line.

An update schedule released by Samsung Israel further divulged details on the possible stable Android 10 rollout timeline for the phone. According to the official roadmap, the Note 9 will get the stable Android 10 update in January.

As of December 31, 2019, Samsung began rolling out the official Android 10 update to Galaxy Note 9 users who were enrolled in the beta program. Users running Android 9 Pie still have not received the update as of this date.

Galaxy Note 9 users running Android 10 can also take advantage of the Samsung Dex for PC feature. As long as you have a Mac or Windows PC with Samsung's desktop app installed, you can connect your Note 9 directly into your computer to use Dex without the need of a separate monitor and keyboard.
