The rumored Moto E5 Plus looks to feature a sleek form and one, not two, cameras

Evan Blass

  • A leaked image showed off what could be the Moto E5 Plus, the successor to last year's E4 Plus.
  • Based on the image, the E5 Plus will have a taller display and smaller bezels along the sides.
  • We do not know when the E5 Plus will launch, how much it will cost, or the phone's specifications.

It seems Motorola's alleged changes to its mid-range and high-end offerings for 2018 could trickle down to the low-end. VentureBeat reports that Evan Blass leaked an image of the rumored Moto E5 Plus.

Based on the image, the Moto E5 Plus will have a taller, thinner display with minimized bezels along the sides. Next to the earpiece appears to be an LED flash module, which will light up when you take a selfie in a dark environment.

Around back looks to be the fingerprint sensor, previously found below the display on the E4 Plus. Above the fingerprint sensor is the camera system, which features two cutouts but only one camera. It looks to have a microUSB port down below and headphone jack up top.

The images do not reveal other bits of information, such as material choice, pricing, and availability. The E4 Plus featured a removable metal back cover, so the E5 Plus also likely features metal under a very shiny coat.

Editor's Pick

As for pricing, the E4 Plus sold for $180 when initially available, so expect the E5 Plus to remain in that ballpark. We could see the E5 Plus this spring or early summer, if the E4 Plus' launch window is any indicator.

If you want something a bit more powerful, Motorola's alleged smartphone lineup looks very promising and could bring the "wow" factor the company needs to deliver after a dull 2017.
