Nvidia’s Black Friday sale slashes 50 to 75 percent off Shield games

Black Friday might not be for another few days, but Nvidia wanted to kick things off a bit early by dramatically slashing the prices for Shield titles available through the Play Store and GeForce Now.

Starting November 22 through November 27, those discounts range from 50 percent to 75 percent, and the good news is that they do not apply to some no-name titles. We're talking about games like Tomb Raider, which put Lara Croft back in the spotlight and now goes for $3.75, a far cry from its original $15 price tag. The game makes a great case for the Shield's graphical prowess, considering how the game manages to run well on the two-year-old ARM-based Tegra X1 processor.

Also making a case for the processor's graphical oomph is Doom 3: BFG Edition, which goes from its normal $10 price tag to $2.49. This game made me pee my pants back when it was released for the original Xbox back in 2005, and 12 years later, it still makes me throw my headphones at my monitor from time to time.

Editor's Pick

Alongside the AAA titles are some indie games, but that does not mean they are any less desirable. Games like Super Meat BoyContrast, and Q*Bert Rebooted are also on sale, so there is a little something for everyone with these discounted games.

These games are all available for the Shield through the Play Store, but there are also discounted titles like Batman Arkham Knight, several LEGO titles, Mad Max, as well as my two personal favorites on the list, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. These games, along with several others, are available for at least 66 percent off on the Shield through Nvidia's GeForce Now. The service bypasses the need for a beefy computer setup by letting you stream games from a remote server over an internet connection.

You can check out the full list of discounted titles at the link below, and remember — you have until November 27 to get them at their discounted prices.
