You can pre-order the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact now for $600

Sony's newest flagship, the Xperia XZ1, came out about a week ago here in the US. When it launched, we were left wondering when exactly its little brother, the Xperia XZ1 Compact would grace store shelves. Well, now we're getting official word that you can grab yours starting Wednesday, October 4.

Even etter news, you don't have to wait until then to order yours. A pre-order page has popped up on Amazon advertising the phone for $600. The Compact costs $100 less than the larger XZ1 but packs many of the same specs. Both phones feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors, 4 GB of RAM and 19 MP cameras. Where they differ is display size. The Xperia XZ1 has a 5.2-inch 1080op display where the Xperia XZ1 Compact has a 4.6-inch 720p display.

Both phones launch with Android 8.0 and are carrier unlocked. You'll be able to take them to any GSM network, but unfortunately, neither are compatible with any CDMA networks like Sprint or Verizon. One of the biggest omissions on the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are fingerprint scanners. For some strange reason, Sony phones in the United States always have the fingerprint sensor disabled at launch. Is that a dealbreaker for you? Let us know down in the comments.
