Disney launching a Star Wars-themed AR "treasure hunt" next week
Although the next Star Wars film won't be out in theatres until this December, the franchise is launching Force Friday II this week where it will unveil a new collection of Star Wars-themed products. As a part of the upcoming event, Disney and Lucasfilm are giving you an opportunity to see the infamous Star Destroyer as well as a couple of TIE Fighters right inside your city. If you live in or near one of the following landmarks and have the Star Wars app, you will be able to see the Empire's invasion first-hand through AR:
- Central Park in the United States
- CN Tower in Canada
- The London Eye in the United Kingdom
- Copacabana Beach in Brazil
- The Eiffel Tower in France
- Gamla Stan in Sweden
- Golden Gate Bridge in the United States
- Gran Via in Spain
- Grand Canyon in the United States
- Ha'Penney Bridge in Ireland
- The Hollywood Sign in the United States
- Lumpini Park in Thailand
- Memorial de America Latina in Brazil
- Merlion Park in Singapore
- Niagara Falls in Canada
- Piazza del Duomo in Italy
- Schloss Charlottenburg in Germany
- Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia
- Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong
- Yoyogi Park in Japan
As we previously reported, this isn't the only AR-themed Star Wars event that's happening right now. Lucasfilm is hosting an AR scavenger hunt across 30 countries, which will reportedly unlock a never-seen-before character from the upcoming film, The Last Jedi.
