Best smartphones in India under Rs 10,000

Consumers in the Indian market are spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the right smartphone. Whether it be the latest and greatest, or the affordable mid-range, or the ultra low-cost, there is something for everyone, and you can make your decision based on how powerful a device you want, the size of the display, other peripheral features, and price. Luckily for those on a tight budget, or for those looking only for a basic smartphone experience, there are a lot of really good options available. Here is a roundup of some of the best smartphones in India that are priced under Rs 10,000!

Editor's note: This list includes phones that essentially fall in the price range between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000. There will be separate lists to showcase devices priced below Rs 30,000 and below Rs 10,000 as well.

Xiaomi Redmi 4

Xiaomi has found immense success in the Indian market by managing to undercut the competition even in the ultra-affordable segment. The recently-launched Redmi 4 is one great example of this, and the device offers a lot more than what its price point would suggest. While the specs and features are generally what is to be expected from an affordable smartphone, the Redmi 4 does impress in terms of its metal build, excellent fingerprint scanner, and battery life, with the large 4,100 mAh battery able to keep things running for sometimes as long as two days.

It's unfortunate that the Redmi 4 is a difficult phone to get your hands on, with Xiaomi continuing to use their flash sale model in which the device goes on sale once a week, and sells out really quickly. The device goes on sale every Tuesday at 12 PM, but you can keep a track of the exact date on Amazon or the Xiaomi website.

The 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB storage version is priced at just Rs 6,999, while the model with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage will set you back Rs 8,999. There is also a more expensive iteration, priced at Rs 10,999, which will get you 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage.

Lenovo K6 Power

The Lenovo K6 Power is a really good option for its price point, and is one of the few choices in this price range that feature a Full HD display. Giving its name is a large 4,000 mAh battery that provides impressive battery life, and it's a good looking smartphone too, with a metal composite build that feels great in the hand. The 3 GB version of the phone is priced at Rs 9,999, but there is also a 4 GB model available that is priced at Rs 10,999.

Swipe Elite Max

Swipe isn't a particularly well known name in the Indian smartphone market, but that should change soon with the company's portfolio including some fantastic devices in the budget-friendly category. One such device is the Swipe Elite Max, which features a beautiful metal and glass unibody construction which is great to see in the affordable category, and also comes with 4 GB of RAM, a fingerprint sensor, and a Full HD display, which are all specs and features that you'd expect from more expensive phones. The Swipe Elite Max is currently priced at Rs 9,999.

Yu Yunicorn

Along the same lines of the Swipe Elite Max is the Yu Yunicorn. Yu may not be a well-known brand in the market either, but it is a subsidiary of the more recognized Micromax. The device features a great looking metal unibody construction with a brushed metal finish, and offers specs that are similar to the Elite Max, with the exception of a MediaTek processor and a larger battery being under the hood. The only real negative with Yunicorn is that its custom Yunicorn OS is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but the experience is clean and smooth. The Yu Yunicorn is currently priced at Rs 9,499.

Samsung On5 Pro

The Samsung On5 Pro doesn't offer nearly as much as some of the other devices on this list, but it is one of the cheaper options out there, with the exception of the Xiaomi Redmi 4, which features the same specs but is a thousand rupees less expensive. However, where Samsung rules the day is when it comes to name recognition, as some may not be comfortable spending their money on relatively unknown brands like Swipe and Yu. The Samsung On5 Pro is priced at Rs 7,990.

Specs

  • 5-inch TFT display with 1280 x 720 resolution
  • 1.3 GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor

  • 142.3 x 72.1 x 8.5 mm, 149 grams

Moto E3 Power

Like the Samsung On5 Pro, the Moto E3 Power doesn't offer a whole lot when compared to the other smartphones in this list, and is mainly banking on name recognition. However, the Moto E3 Power does feature a large battery that provides impressive battery life, and since it is a Motorola device, you can expect the software experience to be smooth and fast despite the low-end processing package. The Moto E3 Power is currently priced at Rs 7,499.
