Today, Android 10 was released to the public on Google's Pixel line of devices. What we didn't expect to see was an Android 10 release for Xiaomi devices on the same day, but, according to XDA Developers, that's exactly what happened.
Today's MIUI 10 update brings Android 10 to the Redmi K20 Pro in India and China. Xiaomi has been recruiting beta testers for MIUI 10 since August 9, so we knew Xiaomi was trying to stay on top of this release, but no one expected it this soon.
Since Xiaomi has so many devices to support, it usually takes quite a while for devices to receive the latest version of Android. The European model of the device, known as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, hasn't received the update yet, but we expect it won't be too far behind the Asian variants.
While OnePlus released Android 10 open betas for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, the only other device to receive the stable Android 10 update today is the Essential Phone. This is no surprise, since unlike Xiaomi, Essential only has one device to support, and it's running a near-stock version of Android. That means it's quite easy for Essential to release day one releases for their device, making it all the more impressive to see the same thing from Xiaomi.
