After weeks of teasing, the OnePlus 7T is now official. The phone is part of the company's biannual refresh cycle and follows the launch of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro earlier in the year. As it turns out, what was expected to be a moderate spec-bump is a fairly substantial upgrade on all fronts.

One of the key upsells of the OnePlus 7 Pro was the higher refresh rate on offer. Now, the OnePlus 7T gets upgraded to a 90Hz "Fluid AMOLED" panel. The display size has increased to 6.55 inches, but the taller 20:9 aspect ratio should help in making the phone comfortable to hold in one hand.

Meanwhile, the waterdrop notch has shrunk down by around 31% which makes the display look even more immersive. You get all the niceties like HDR10+ compatibility as well as a higher peak brightness of 1,000 nits, which should make watching high dynamic range content a joy.

Plus power

Internally, the OnePlus 7T gets an upgrade to the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. There's not a lot new here – both in terms of the Plus upgrade, and the fact we've seen it in other devices. The Snapdragon 855 Plus gets an overclocked Prime core that now goes up to 2.96Ghz. Bigger changes lie in the GPU with Qualcomm claiming a 15% performance upgrade on the Adreno 640. Regardless, performance has rarely been a concern on the OnePlus series of phones, and you are sure to get one of the fastest Android phones around.

Even faster charging

While the battery gets a minor upgrade to 3,800mAh, bigger upgrades lie in the charging tech. You can expect to fully charge the phone in just about an hour using the included Warp Charge 30T power brick. In our own testing, we found that the phone tops off from scratch in just about 70 minutes. Not bad!

All-new cameras

We've long debated about the camera quality of the OnePlus series of phones, particularly about how OnePlus is taking steps to bring it up to the level of flagship devices. The primary sensor continues to be a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, but this time around it gets a faster f/1.6 aperture for better low-light capabilities. The 7T also drops the depth sensor and instead gains a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom capabilities, as well as a 16MP ultrawide sensor with a 117-degree field-of-view.
