The first of the month is usually a somber occasion, as Hulu removes a certain amount of content at the end of the month. However, the popular streaming service Hulu also adds a variable number of movies and TV shows to its already-large catalog of content.

New on Hulu – October 2019 highlights
October 1: Cloverfield
Cloverfield is one of those rare monster movies that barely shows the monster. Hell, we learn about the main character's platonic relationship with a significant other than we do about the creature wreaking havoc in New York City. That said, the found-footage filming style, pre-release marketing campaign, and impressive visuals make this a must-watch for monster movie fans.
October 18: Wounds
Just in time for Halloween, Wounds is a psychological horror film following a New Orleans bartender. Unfortunately for him, disturbing events take place soon after he picks up a phone left behind in his bar. Yes, this phone somehow opens a gateway to hell. Yes, we're here for this.
October 18: Looking for Alaska
Based on the John Green novel of the same name, Looking for Alaska tells the story of Miles "Pudge" Halter. He attends boarding school in the hopes of finding his "great perhaps" when he meets Alaska Young. However, things take a turn for the worse as Pudge and his friends piece together what really happened to Alaska the last night they saw her.
