2019 is quickly becoming the year of the pop-up selfie camera, as phones from all sorts of different companies — including OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, and more — land with the cool feature. It looks like Vivo is ready to one-up those companies by placing two camera lenses into the pop-up on the Vivo V17 Pro.
A leaked image of the Vivo V17 Pro (via 91mobiles) shows a pop-up camera that spans the majority of the top of the device. The front of the display is all-screen and the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor is heavily implied.
Check out the image below for yourself:
The leaked image doesn't show us the rear of the device, so we don't know what kind of rear camera system the Vivo V17 Pro is packing. However, it's probably safe to assume that it will be at least a triple-lens setup, considering the presence of the dual front-facing lenses (for what it's worth, 91mobiles posits there will be a quad-lens setup on the back).
Interestingly, another device from Vivo — the Vivo Nex 3 — also features a pop-up selfie cam with multiple sensors. We still don't know for certain, but we think the Nex 3 has a single camera lens in its pop-up along with some other sort of sensor, i.e. not a camera lens. If true, that would likely make the Vivo V17 Pro the first device with two lenses in a pop-up system.
Reportedly, Vivo will start training employees on how to use the Vivo V17 Pro next week with a launch scheduled for sometime later this month. Unfortunately, this new phone likely won't see a global release.
