Here’s how to change your Android 10 system accent color

The release of Android 10 brings us a system-wide dark mode theme for the first time in the operating system's history. However, that's not all. You also have the ability to change the system accent color for the first time as well.

While it does require going into the more advanced Developer Options for Android 10, you can change the accent colors of your Android 10 icons to one of eight different choices. Here's how to change the Android 10 system accent color on your smartphone.

What Android 10 system access colors are available?

You will have eight colors to choose from when you enable this option. They are:

  • Blue (the default choice)
  • Cinnamon
  • Black
  • Green
  • Ocean (a different shade of blue)
  • Space
  • Orchid
  • Purple

How to change the Android 10 system accent color

It takes a bit more effort than normal, but here's how to go into the OS to change the Android 10 system accent color:

  1. First, tap on the Settings icon on your phone.
  2. Then, scroll down and tap on the About phone selection.
  3. Then, tap on the Android version option.
  4. After that, you have to tap on the build number that's displayed seven times. That should display a message stating you are now officially a "Developer".
  5. Go back to the main Settings menu once again.
  6. Then, tap on the System selection.
  7. Then, tap on the Advanced option on the menu.
  8. After that, tap on the Developer options selection
  9. Then, scroll down and tap on the Accent color part of the menu.
  10. You should see a selection of several colors to pick from. Tap on the one you want to enable to change the accent color.
