Honor 8X specs show a big device, just not as big as the 8X Max

  • The Honor 8X specs just leaked via Chinese regulatory body TENAA.
  • From the leak, the Honor 8X specs show a capable — albeit large — mid-range device.
  • There were no photos with the TENAA listing, but it's likely the Honor 8X will look like a smaller Honor 8X Max.

If you like your phones huge and inexpensive, you're likely pretty excited about the upcoming Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max. While the specs for the Honor 8X Max leaked in August, we just now are getting our look at the Honor 8X specs.

According to the TENAA listing for the Honor 8X (model number JSN-AL00A), the device will have an enormous 6.5-inch display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080. As huge as that is, it's still smaller than the alleged size of the Honor 8X Max, which has a ridiculous 7.12-inch display. However, the 8X will still be larger than last year's Honor 7X, which had a 5.9-inch display.

Inside, the Honor 8X will probably run an octa-core 2.2GHz chipset. While we don't know which one, it's likely that its the mid-range, Huawei-designed Kirin 710 — although, it's also possible that it will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. It will likely run Android 8.1 Oreo (skinned with EMUI) and be powered by a 3,650mAh battery.

Editor's Pick

There seem to be two variants of the Honor 8X: one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and another with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The listing says the device will come in four colors: black, red, blue, and light purple.

As far as cameras go, the Honor 8X appears to feature a more powerful pair of cameras than the Honor 8X Max, with the two rear shooters coming in at 20MP and 2MP with a 16MP lens on the front. This is in comparison to the 8X Max, which likely has a 16MP lens paired with a 2MP lens on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front.

Unfortunately, there are no photos included with the Honor 8X TENAA listing, but it's extremely likely that the Honor 8X will just look like a smaller Honor 8X Max, which we do have leaked photos of (see above).  The Honor 8X will likely be 160.4 × 76.6 × 7.8mm and weigh 175g.

The formal launch of the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max will almost certainly come this week sometime, so we'll know more about the devices then. In the meantime, let us know in the comments whether or not you're excited about these devices!
