PUBG Mobile partners with Samsung for global tournament with $600,000 prize pool

  • PUBG Mobile is hosting yet another global tournament, the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge.
  • Players from six regions will duke it out for fame and a $600,000 prize pool.
  • The PMSC finals will take place in Dubai at the end of the year.

Just over a month after the streamer-filled Player Well Known tournament, PUBG Mobile has just announced yet another global competition aimed at expanding its reach into the world of live streaming.

The PUBG Mobile Star Challenge features players from six regions: North America, South America, Europe, Korea/Japan, China, and the rest of Asia. Like the previous tournament, only players with more than 1,000 combined social followers are allowed to participate.

For streamers, the tournament offers some enticing rewards. PUBG Mobile will use in-house funding to promote those who succeed on the battlefield, and there are even official PUBG Mobile streamer contracts up for grabs. That's some serious exposure for a small streamer.

The grand prize winner will take home $200,000

But as any artist knows, exposure won't pay the rent, so the tournament is also offering an impressive $600,000 in prize money. Most of that cash comes from the title sponsor, Samsung's Galaxy Note 9. To round out the partnership, Tencent also announced that PUBG Mobile is now available on Samsung Galaxy Apps.

This move means that both battle royale giants — PUBG Mobile and Fortnite — are available on Samsung's app store. Sure, there are other ways to get them, but at least Samsung is consistent in their push into the mobile gaming arena.

The regional semi-finals are already underway, and you can relive the action on the official PUBG Mobile YouTube channel. The first Regional Finals are set for September 29-30 in Kiev, Ukraine. The top teams from Europe will compete for $20,000 and a spot at the World Finals.

The PMSC World Finals will take place in Dubai at the end of the year. The top 13 teams from the regional finals and seven teams receiving a special invitation will duke it out for a grand prize of $200,000.

The most charismatic content creators can also find success through the regional popularity contest, while the most popular team from each region will take home $10,000 and several other exclusive prizes.
