Google is asking Pixel users for feedback on how to improve the user interface of its devices. In a Reddit thread it opened yesterday, Google asked how users configure their Pixel phones, and specifically, what troubles they experience with "managing, toggling, or discovering settings."
It doesn't matter whether you're a long-time Pixel/Pixel 2 user or have relatively little experience with them: if you've noticed a particularly problematic area, you can raise it in the thread.
Here are some examples the type's of feedback Google is looking for:
- There's a setting you constantly have to manage yourself (e.g. you turn Bluetooth on and off 10 times a day)
- There's a setting you love, but wish you had found out about earlier (e.g. you are a big DND user, but never realized there was a DND scheduling feature)
- There's a setting or configuration you wish your phone could be smarter about (e.g. why can't my Pixel put itself in airplane mode when I'm taking off in a plane?)
- There's a setting or configuration you wish your phone could remind you about (e.g. I wish my phone could make sure I don't forget to silence my phone at work)
- There are settings you changed the second you setup your phone (e.g. I turned off haptic feedback right away after setting up my Pixel)
Google said it isn't ready to announce any new device features right now but hopes to "incorporate this feedback to improve your Settings experience on Pixel devices in the future."
There are no guarantees that Google will implement any of the suggestions that arise from the thread, but it's still a sound opportunity to voice your opinion. Reddit's points system also means that your suggestions can quickly become more visible—if the community likes them.
