Best Buy offering $100 Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus pre-order discount on March 2

  • Best Buy is offering a $100 discount to those who pre-order the Galaxy S8 on March 2.
  • The store is also offering up to $350 dollars to those who trade-in an eligible phone.
  • Taking advantage of both deals could see you save over 50% on the total price of the S9.

Samsung finally announced the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus at the Mobile World Congress over the weekend. As expected, the two flagship devices have features such as improved cameras, AR emojis, and stereo speakers. You'll likely be hearing a lot about these phones in the coming months.

While the two devices won't be released in the U.S. until March 16, they will be available to pre-order from Friday, March 2. If you are aren't 100 percent sure about whether to commit to the phone, Best Buy is hoping to sweeten the deal by giving a $100 discount to anyone who pre-orders either the S9 or S9 Plus specifically on March 2.

As well as this $100 discount for pre-ordering, Best Buy is also offering up to an additional $350 off the price of the phone to those who trade in a qualifying phone. Owners of Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus phones hoping to upgrade will be happy to hear that they can receive the full $350 dollar trade-in discount. As can those with an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X.

Those with a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2XL, a Galaxy S7, iPhone 7, or LG V30 will be able to trade in their phone for a $300 discount, and even those using a Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, Pixel, or V20 can trade in their phone for $150.

Editor's Pick

So, what does this mean for the price of the phone? Well, most carriers are selling the S9 for around $790 and the S9 Plus for around $930. That means that customers pre-ordering on March 2 and trading in a Galaxy S8 could be able to save over half the cost of an S9 and almost half the cost of an S9 Plus.

Of course, there are some caveats. Those hoping to take advantage of the deal will not be able to do so on an unlocked device—you'll have to sign-up with a carrier—or a Sprint Flex Lease. Also, the device being traded in must be in good working condition.
