Last week, we found out that the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 fitness tracker is going to land sometime in 2019, although not in the next few months, unfortunately. Now, via TechRadar, we're finding out that the Mi Band 4 will likely ship with Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC support.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 recently passed through Bluetooth certification, which is the source of this new information.
Interestingly, the regulatory filing shows two versions of the Mi Band 4: one with NFC support (XMSH08HM) and one without (XMSH07HM). However, it appears that both models will support Bluetooth 5.0, a nice step up over the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 which only supports Bluetooth 4.2.
We know that the Mi Band 4 is going to come with at least one killer new feature. It's possible that NFC support could be that feature, although it's likely to be something more significant than that, such as an ECG sensor or a full-color display. Unfortunately, we don't really have any idea yet what the new feature will be.
One thing is relatively certain, though, which is that the Mi Band 4 is likely going to be cheap. The Mi Band 3 is available now at Amazon for only $34, and the Mi Band 4 will likely not be much pricier than that.
