Nokia 9 PureView specs analysis
In terms of sheer horsepower, the new phone picks up where the Nokia 8 Sirocco left off. So that means we're looking at last year's flagship silicon (Snapdragon 845 in the Nokia 9's case), 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of fixed storage.
HMD's latest flagship isn't much better than its predecessor in the battery field either, offering a 3,320mAh battery with wireless charging compared to the Sirocco's 3,260mAh pack (with wireless charging too). As for other core Nokia 9 PureView specs, you can expect a 5.99-inch OLED screen (QHD+), an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Android Pie.
The star of the Nokia 9 PureView specs sheet is that rear camera setup though, delivering three monochrome shooters and two color snappers. All cameras come in at 12MP and f/1.8 apertures, offering Carl Zeiss optics to boot. Unlike rival brands, HMD isn't using its multi-camera setup to provide different perspectives, but rather combining all the data to deliver better depth effects, improved low-light performance, and richer HDR — in theory. Don't expect a multi-camera setup on the front though, as we've got a solitary 20MP shooter capable of 5MP pixel-binned selfies.
There are a few features missing when you check the Nokia 9 PureView spec sheet though. We don't have optical image stabilization on any of the five rear cameras, there's no microSD card slot, no headphone jack, and it doesn't have the Snapdragon 855 chipset. But is the penta-lens camera setup enough reason to buy the Nokia 9 PureView? Let us know in the comments!
