Google Assistant in Europe gains flight check-ins, Digital Wellbeing tools, more

International Assistant users are typically forced to wait on the sidelines when Google introduces new features. Fortunately, several of the Google Assistant's latest abilities are rolling out now to European markets, as announced at MWC 2019.

Check-in to your flight in Europe

Back at CES 2019, Google unveiled that users could check into domestic United Airlines flights using the Assistant. Even though this feature hasn't been expanded to other U.S. carriers, Google is bringing it to select European airlines.

In the coming week, users will be able to check into Lufthansa, SWISS, or Austrian Air flights within Europe. Just like with United, users can let the virtual assistant handle all of their trip details.

The feature will be available for users that communicate with the Assistant in English or German.

Digital Wellbeing expansion

Google has been working to expand its Digital Wellbeing initiative over the last year. One way it has done this is by allowing the Assistant to control a user's smartphone and display various usage details.

Starting today, Google is expanding this functionality to English, German, and French markets. When it has rolled out to you, you will be able to ask Assistant installed on compatible devices how much time you've spent on the phone, enable Do Not Disturb mode, and set wind down timers.

Multiple Actions in German and French

Last but not least, Google is bringing the Assistant's Multiple Actions feature to German and French users. What this means is that you will soon be able to ask the virtual assistant complex questions instead of singular queries.

For example, Google says that users will be able to ask Assistant questions such as "What is the weather in Berlin and Paris?"
