As it turns out, there are plenty of moon phase apps and moon calendar apps. They let you know when the moon is waxing or waning, full or new. As it turns out, it's really difficult to mess up apps like this. Most of them have a 4.5 rating or higher in the Play Store. 1Weather is among the best weather apps out there. It features a current temperature, daily forecast, ten day forecast a 12-week forecast, a weather radar, and plenty of other useful features. One of its more unique features is moon phases. The app tells you the phases of the moon as well as the next two phases and their dates. At the time of this writing, the app shows that it's a new moon with the waxing crescent and quarter coming in the next 11 days. It's not in-depth, but it's a good app to kill two birds with one stone. Plus, it's entirely free with ads or $1.99 for the no ad version.

Google Assistant and Google Now are useful for so many things. As it turns out, moon phases is one of them. You simply ask Google Assistant about moon phases, eclipses, predictions, and other stuff. The app handles most, if not all of those requests with aplomb. It won't give you the in-depth knowledge of other moon phase apps or moon calendar apps. However, it's great if you just want to check it out on occasion. It's also totally free and available on almost every Android device.

This one shows you the current moon phase, a calendar of the upcoming moon phases, moon rise and moon set times, golden hour and blue hour times, and a bunch of extras. It even comes with some very basic weather features like cloud cover. That way you can plan your moon viewing experiences properly. Even the UI is a little bit better than most. The free version contains everything, but also has ads. The full version has no ads.

Phases of the Moon is one of the more popular moon calendar apps and moon phase apps. It includes all of the basic features, including moon phase, a moon calendar, moon rise and set times, and more. This one also includes a 3D simulation made by NASA, an interactive and educational moon map, and even a live wallpaper. This one is excellent for educational value, especially for kids. It's free with advertising. The full version is $1.99 as an in-app purchase and it removes ads.

Why look at moon calendar apps when you can make one yourself? Google Calendar has a bunch of calendars add-ons. That includes a moon phase calendar. It should be fairly easy to add. Head to the Google Calendar website (it's easier there). From there, click the cogwheel toward the top of the page and enter the Settings. On the left margin there is an Add Calendar option. Click that, and then click Browse Calendars of Interest. Toward the bottom, you can see Phases of the Moon. Tick the empty box to add it to your calendar. This should sync to the Google Calendar app as well as most calendar apps that sync with Google Calendar.
