The OnePlus 5T is here and has so far been a success for OnePlus. It's the company's fastest-selling smartphone ever and reviews have been generally very positive. And it should only get better with time: OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has already said that an upcoming update will improve its camera capabilities, but many other feature updates are also likely to appear in the coming weeks and months.
The first of these has just arrived, only a couple of days after the smartphone's global release. Android Police spotted the ~107 MB update, which brings devices up to OxygenOS version 4.7.2, and includes improvements to fingerprint and face unlock (their accuracy, speed, or something else, we don't know), as well as better electronic image stabilization during 4K video recording. The 5T should be secured against that nasty KRACK vulnerability following the update too.
Here's a look at the full patch notes from OnePlus:
- Optimizations for fingerprint unlock
- Optimizations for face unlock
- Improved accuracy for screen off gestures
- Improved EIS during 4K video recording
- Wi-Fi WPA2 security patch (KRACK vulnerability patch)
- General stability improvements and bug fixes
No feature updates were included this time around, this is just a launch patch to make sure everything is running smoothly. For more on the new OnePlus flagship, visit our initial OnePlus 5T review at the link.
