When I first played Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty on my PlayStation 2, I actually second-guessed myself about Iroquois Pliskin's real identity. My 10-year-old self could not arrive to the conclusion that he was actually Solid Snake, no matter how hard he tried. Now that I am 16 years wiser, I can revisit my naive self all over again with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition for the Shield TV.
To get you up to speed, Metal Gear Solid 2 was the first game in the long-running series to let you play as two characters, Solid Snake and Raiden, as you infiltrate the Big Shell and attempt to rescue the US President from a group known as Dead Cell. Because this is a Metal Gear Solid game through and through, the story is nowhere near that simple, so if you are not a fan of the series, Metal Gear Solid 2 will do the exact opposite of change your mind.
NVIDIA is (voluntarily) recalling Shield plug heads over safety concerns in Europe
That being said, if you enjoyed everything from the sneaking to naked Raiden doing cartwheels, you will likely enjoy the prettier graphics that the HD edition have to offer.
If you are more than happy to return to the weirdness that is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition, you can do so at the link below for $9.99, with the price hiking up to $19.99 after the launch period ends. Purchasing the game will also net you VR Missions, a separate mode that assigns a score for each level that you pass.
Interestingly, folks can become beta testers for the game, so at least we know updates will be in the works. Anyone interested will first need to click this link to become a tester, then click the link at the bottom to get the beta version of the game.
Just keep in mind that Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition will only work on Shield TV – no other Android device is compatible with the game.
