- A Vivo Nex 3 "unboxing" video shows off many of the device's hardware features in HD quality.
- Among the confirmed features are 5G connectivity, an insane screen-to-body ratio, a headphone jack, and a triple-lens rear camera.
- The device's specs and related information are still unknown, however.
Yesterday we saw an official promo video for the Vivo Nex 3 that showed off a lot of the as-yet-unreleased device. Now we have an even more in-depth look at the upcoming smartphone via a Vivo Nex 3 unboxing video from YouTuber Mr. Whose The Boss.
Although the video appears to basically be a long ad spot from Vivo, Mr. Whose The Boss does give us some interesting new details about the Nex 3 which makes it seem like a no-compromises superphone.
Unfortunately, the device in the video is an early pre-release unit so no specs are actually divulged. Still we can now confirm a few interesting things from this Vivo Nex 3 unboxing video.
The first thing we can confirm is that the device will either come as a 5G-exclusive or at the very least have a 5G option. Much of the video's runtime is spent comparing how much faster 5G connections are when compared to 4G connections, which doesn't really have much to do with the Nex 3, but OK.
We can also confirm that the Nex 3 will have capacitive buttons, i.e. buttons that don't physically click when you press them. The power button on the right side of the phone is designated by a grooved surface and the volume buttons are above and below that button. There is also a second power button on the top for those times when you need a power button on the top, I suppose.
The Vivo Nex 3 seems like a new superphone with pretty much everything you could ever want all in one package.
Next to that top power button, the Vivo Nex 3 unboxing video confirms the device will have a headphone jack. There's a single speaker on the bottom of the device next to the USB-C port.
The display is the real star of the show, though, with most of the video's runtime spent talking about just how amazing it is. It truly does wrap around the sides of the device in a way that makes it seem like it just keeps going, and the top and bottom bezels are razor-thin, seemingly thinner than even the OnePlus 7 Pro. This is likely the closest we've gotten yet to a device that is quite literally all screen.
On the back, we see a triple-lens camera arranged in a circular cutout. Mr. Whose The Boss is unable to divulge any of the specs related to the camera (or the device in general — he can't even tell us the device's physical dimensions) but the images he captures seem to be pretty crisp.
Interestingly, Mr. Whose The Boss mentions the pop-up selfie cam at one point in the video but doesn't actually talk about it. He says he'll "come to it in a second," but then never does. So the selfie cam is still a mystery, although you can clearly see it popped out at the end of the video. From what we can tell, it seems like there are two cameras or possibly one camera with another associated sensor included in the pop-out.
One would expect a Vivo Nex 3 unboxing video to also show the accessories included in the box (hence the term "unboxing"), but Mr. Whose The Boss doesn't cover any of that. The box looks nice, though.
The Vivo Nex 3 does seem like the kind of smartphone that has zero compromises, as you're going to get fast 5G connectivity, an unbelievably cool display, a pop-up selfie cam, a triple-lens rear camera, and a headphone jack all-in-one. Are you excited about this phone? Let us know in the comments.
