It appears Samsung's Galaxy Home Mini could beat it's big brother, the Galaxy Home, to market. Yesterday, Aug. 28, Samsung announced the Galaxy Home Mini will be entering into a beta testing program exclusively in South Korea.
The program application process began at the time of the announcement and will go until Sept. 1. It is open to 3,000 participants, and anyone who is currently a Samsung smartphone user living in South Korea can apply. Accepted beta testers should then receive the smart speaker sometime ahead of its market release.
It was more than a year ago when Samsung originally announced the Galaxy Home, but the product has since been delayed multiple times. Earlier this year, the Mini variant of the device received certification from the FCC, though it lacked any formal announcement up until now.

We still aren't certain when either device will come to market or how much they will cost. What we do know is that the Galaxy Home Mini will come with AKG sound technologies, SmartThings integration, and Bixby. Only time will tell if all of this adds up to a product that can compete with Amazon and Google in the smart speaker market.
