We've known for a few weeks now that Xiaomi has been readying its first phones as part of its partnership with Meitu. Now, the Chinese brand has announced the Xiaomi Mi CC 9 series, consisting of the Mi CC 9, Mi CC 9e, and the Mi CC 9 Meitu Edition.
All three phones offer a 32MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch, a 4,030mAh battery, and a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide snapper, and 2MP depth sensor. The Mi CC 9 series also offers the ability to swap out the sky in a photo for a more aesthetically pleasant backdrop (as previously seen in the MIUI beta). One of the Xiaomi examples used was a grey sky in a landscape picture being swapped out for blue skies.
The standard Mi CC 9 offers a Snapdragon 710 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The phone also serves up a a 6.39-inch OLED screen (full HD+) with in-display fingerprint sensor, and 18 watt charging. Other noteworthy details include a 3.5mm port, NFC, an IR blaster, USB-C connectivity, and Game Turbo 2.0 support.
The second phone shown at the event was the Xiaomi Mi CC 9e, seen above. The smaller phone differs from the previous model by offering a Snapdragon 665 chipset, 6-inch OLED screen (with in-display fingerprint sensor), and no NFC.
The final phone revealed as part of the event was the Xiaomi Mi CC 9 Meitu Edition (seen below). Xiaomi noted that the phone's camera app was actually developed by Meitu. Furthermore, the phone features an AI low-light portrait mode, with the company showing off selfies that were notably brighter than shots taken with the iPhone XS.
The Xiaomi Mi CC 9 starts at 1,799 yuan (~$262) for the 6GB/64GB variant, and 1,999 yuan (~$291) for the 6GB/128GB model. The Mi CC 9e starts at 1,299 yuan (~$189) for the 4GB/64GB option, 1,399 yuan (~$203) for the 6GB/64GB variant, and 1,599 yuan (~$233) for the 6GB/128GB model. As for the Xiaomi Mi CC 9 Meitu Edition, it retails for 2,599 yuan (~$378), giving you 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. What do you think of the Mi CC 9 series?
