I used to recommend Motorola phones left and right. The great build quality and clean, useful software paired with a (normally) decent price point meant just about everyone could get a fantastic Android experience without sacrificing too much. But, after news broke last week that Motorola would backtrack on its promise and only issue the Android 9 update to one variant of the Moto Z2 Force, it's getting harder and harder to trust this company with software.
It's not exactly news that Motorola is one of the slowest manufacturers to issue major software updates. It didn't used to be this way, but it is now, and there's not much people hoping for a Motorola renaissance can do about it.
That's why we tend to recommend phones that get speedy updates, such as Google Pixel phones, HMD phones, or OnePlus phones.
How important are quick software updates to you? How long are you willing to wait for the next major version of Android to make its way to your phone? Cast your vote in the poll below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.
