Xiaomi Pocophone F1 prices leaked: Is Europe getting a cheap flagship?

  • The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will reportedly start at roughly 420 euros in Eastern Europe.
  • Xiaomi's latest phone is tipped to feature 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.
  • The new phone is expected to pack a Snapdragon 845 chipset, which would make it one of the cheaper flagships around.

The Xiaomi Pocophone brand broke cover via the FCC earlier this month, and we've been getting a steady stream of leaks since then. Now, WinFuture journalist Roland Quandt has revealed pricing for what will apparently be the first phone in Xiaomi's new range, the Pocophone F1.

According to Quandt, the 6GB RAM/64GB storage Pocophone F1 is listed for ~420 euros (~$489) in eastern Europe, with a 6GB/128GB variant also listed at ~460 euros (~$536).

The real question is what the rest of the spec sheet looks like, as we've already seen the RAM and storage figures via the aforementioned FCC listing.

Several videos purportedly showing the phone have surfaced this month, according to MySmartPrice. The videos apparently show a phone with a dual-camera setup, notched display, and 2.8Ghz octa-core processor.

Xiaomi makes extensive use of Qualcomm's silicon, and the Snapdragon 845 processor is an octa-core chip with a 2.8Ghz clock speed. If these videos are legitimate, it seems extremely likely that we're looking at a Xiaomi phone with flagship specifications. The clips also show a phone that's rather similar to the Mi 8 in the first place.

Editor's Pick

If Quandt's pricing is confirmed, then it's a rather attractive deal for European consumers. The entry-level Xiaomi Mi 8 (~$421) might be the closest comparison in terms of price and spec sheet, followed by the Asus Zenfone 5Z ($499). Meanwhile, the OnePlus 6 starts at $529 for the entry-level 6GB/64GB model.

It's unclear whether the Pocophone F1 and Pocophone family at large will be a regional brand, but given the similar specs and price to the Mi 8, it might make for a great device in markets where Xiaomi's main flagship isn't available.
