You can now visit any website using Daydream VR. Even that one.

  • Chrome is now fully optimized to work with Daydream VR devices.
  • Using Daydream, Chrome works just like it does on a phone, with all the features you already know.
  • There's also a new, Daydream-exclusive feature called Cinema Mode, which does exactly what you think it does.

One thing the Daydream VR platform has been missing since its launch is full access to a web browser. But today, Google is finally bringing the Chrome browser to Daydream VR.

Although Chrome on Daydream VR is optimized in certain ways for virtual reality functions, it is a full-fledged browser that you can use to access any website on the internet. Essentially, if you can visit it on your phone, you can visit it in Daydream VR.

You also have access to your bookmarks, voice search, history, and incognito mode, just as you would expect.

Google is also introducing a Daydream-specific feature to Chrome called Cinema Mode, which will optimize web videos to better fit the VR view.

Cinema Mode + incognito mode + access to any website = fun times.

The Chrome app is available now for both the Daydream View headset as well as the Lenovo Mirage Solo, which also runs on the Daydream VR platform. As long as you are on the latest version of the Chrome app on your phone, you will be able to launch Chrome right from the Daydream home screen.

If you are using the Lenovo Mirage Solo, you will have to visit the Google Play Store within the headset to download the application.
