Honor teases mystery device coming May 15

Digital Trends

Honor has sent out invites for a launch event on May 15 in London. The Huawei sub-brand teased a new device in the email invite (via Digital Trends) with the tagline "beauty in AI," but it didn't provide any further details.

Honor may introduce a successor to the Honor 9 flagship released last June, as this would fit in with the roughly twelve-month smartphone release cycle (and the name did show up in recent documents leaked on Weibo).

A sequel to that device is likely to come with an 18:9 display and Kirin 970 chipset — like on the Honor View 10 — in addition to AI camera features like seen on the Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei P20 (given the beauty in AI clue).

Editor's Pick

We have high expectations for the Honor 10 as we had lots of positive things to say about its predecessor. In our Honor 9 review, we wrote that the handset "ticks a lot of the right boxes: great performance, dual cameras, sleek design, and an IR blaster! The only downsides are the lack of toughened glass over the display and the slippery nature of the build materials."

In Honor addresses those quibbles, we could be set to see a winning handset.
