- Blackview's P10000 Pro sports a huge 11,000mAh battery that promises seven days of use.
- The battery also promises 50 days of standby.
- That is more than the average laptop or tablet.
Thanks to more advanced processors, it has become harder for a smartphone to have truly horrendous battery life. Still, there is still something to be said for sticking a gigantic battery in a phone and calling it a day. Enter Blackview and its P10000 Pro, which features a gargantuan 11,000mAh battery.
More important than the discrepancy between the phone name and battery size is the type of endurance you can expect. The P10000 Pro boldly promises 50 days of standby time and seven days of use on a single charge. The included 5V/5A charger promises to take the battery from dead to full in two hours and 25 minutes.
As impressive as the P10000 Pro's battery is, the phone is not the only one with such a high-capacity power pack. Fellow no-name Chinese brand Oukitel, for example, released the K10000 and K10000 Pro. Both phones feature, you guessed it, 10,000mAh batteries that could charge other devices.
Size certainly matters, but it's also about how you use it. Battery performance also depends on factors like software optimization, which companies like Apple and Google will attest to with their devices. The sheer size of the P10000 Pro's battery should offset that a bit, optimization be damned.
As with other smartphones with gargantuan batteries, everything else about the P10000 Pro is rather pedestrian. The phone sports a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2,160 x 1,080 resolution, 13MP and 0.3MP selfie cameras, 16MP and 0.3MP primary cameras, and facial recognition in lieu of a fingerprint sensor.
Elsewhere, the P10000 Pro features MediaTek's octa-core Helio P23 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Android 7.1 Nougat. An update to Android 8.1 Oreo will arrive sometime before we die of old age, but at least the phone is available with either a glass or leather back.
Rather pedestrian, we know, but the real story is that battery. The size is overkill, since phones like the Huawei Mate 10 Pro get away with a 4,000mAh battery that delivers fantastic battery life. Also, good luck getting the P10000 Pro to fit in your skinny jeans' pockets.
I can't help but like the phone and its 11,000mAh battery, though. There's something about a phone that packs such a large battery and does not catch fire.
If the P10000 Pro's battery is something you can also admire, you can pick up the phone from AliExpress for just under $200.
