- Samsung's affordable Galaxy S20 phone could launch in October.
- It's believed to be a watered-down version of the existing Galaxy S20.
- It could come in blue, white, and violet colorways.
Earlier this month, rumors emerged about an upcoming affordable phone in Samsung's Galaxy S20 line. The device is apparently called the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition internally and is believed to be the Galaxy S10 Lite of 2020. Now, South Korean media outlet ETNews reports that Samsung will launch this "economical version" of the Galaxy S20 in October.
The publication claims that the cheaper Galaxy S20 is part of Samsung's efforts to revive its smartphone sales in the second half of the year. The company seems to have taken a big hit because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and to offset this, it reportedly plans on launching three new smartphones between August and October.

As per the report, the Galaxy Note 20 will launch first in August, followed by the Galaxy Fold 2 in September, and the "Galaxy S20 Pen Edition" in October. We're not sure if it's just a case of being lost in translation or if Samsung will actually call the phone the Galaxy S20 Pen Edition. The name strongly hints at S-Pen support, but that doesn't make much sense and would further blur the lines between the Galaxy S and Note series.
Nonetheless, the very fact that one might not have to shell out $1,000 on a Samsung flagship is exciting enough to hold our attention. According to SamMobile, the so-called Galaxy S20 Fan Edition/Pen Edition could launch in blue, violet, and white colorways. The outlet has also learned from a source that the phone should carry 128GB storage onboard. There's still no word about its processor, price, or any other key specs.
Hopefully Samsung is using the Galaxy S10e as a template of sorts for the new device, as this model delivered a more affordable price tag while still offering a great flagship-level experience.
