We first heard about the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha in the Fall of last year. However, Xiaomi has been pretty possessive of the device since revealing its stunning wraparound display.
Now, though, YouTuber MKBHD has created a hands-on video with the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha. In the video, which we've embedded below, you can see the nearly 360-degree display on the prototype smartphone in all its glory.
The specs of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha are also impressive, with it having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage, and 12GB of RAM. Unfortunately, it only has a 4,050mAh battery, which might not be enough considering how much display the battery will need to power.
It does also have a 108MP primary camera sensor, likely the same one we saw in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha also looks incredibly thick and is quite heavy. Since it uses metal for its chassis and ceramic for the camera strip on the rear of the device, the phone undoubtedly would weigh down your pocket.

With all that display, a case for the phone would be pretty much impossible (although Xiaomi did include one with the Mi Mix Alpha that looks really bad), which also brings up the concerns of durability. If a phone is nearly all display, what happens if you drop it? One wonders about the practicality of such a phone.
Still, this video from MKBHD shows that the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is something new and different in an increasingly stagnant smartphone industry. The phone is still just a concept, though, so who knows if it will ever actually come to market — or how much it would cost if it did.
