Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update hub: Android 10 beta headed to India, US

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update

Update, November 27 2019 (02:10 AM ET): Galaxy Note 10 and S10 owners have had the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta for weeks now. Fortunately, Samsung has also started rolling it out more widely to Galaxy Note 9 devices.

After last weeks rollout in South Korea and UK, One UI 2.0 is now headed to India. SamMobile reports that Indian users who have signed up for the beta program have started receiving the update. A Reddit thread suggests that US Galaxy Note 9 users are next in line.

An update schedule released by Samsung Israel suggests that the Note 9 will get the stable Android 10 update in January. While this could vary for different countries like UK, US, and India, it is possible for Samsung to roll it out in those markets around the same time.

In any event, users can sign up for the One UI 2.0 beta by downloading the Samsung Members app and tapping the relevant banner.

Original coverage, March 2, 07:57 a.m. ET: Welcome to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Android update hub. Here, you'll find everything you need to know about the latest Galaxy Note 9 updates, including its current version, and when future updates are likely to arrive.

  • Current stable version: Android Pie
  • When will the Galaxy Note 9 get Android 10? January 2020 – March 2020 (estimated)

The Galaxy Note 9 arrived with Android Oreo on August 24. It started to receive Android Pie, the latest version of Android, in February. Android 10 is expected to be the last major software update it receives.

In June, the Galaxy Note 9 received an update that brought a Night mode for the camera app. Other additions in this update included a QR scanning functionality in the camera app.

Samsung announced the availability of the One UI 2.0 beta for the Note 9 in South Korea on November 20 (h/t: Sammobile). The same was later rolled out to users in the UK. Samsung's track record of S10 and Note 10 beta updates suggests that other markets aren't far behind at all. Hopefully it's a matter of days rather than weeks or months.
