If you are old enough to have owned a Super Nintendo Entertainment System, you probably remember playing two of the greatest JRPGs of all time: Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the United States). Even if you're not that old, you've probably heard of these legendary titles.
Today, Square Enix is offering Android versions of many of its games for 50 percent off — including Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.
Before you rush off to buy these titles, you should be aware: these are not faithful ports. Downloading Chrono Trigger, for example, will not allow you to play the game as you did on your SNES (or like you do in an emulator). Instead, these are updated versions of the classic games with new graphics, music, and gameplay elements.
Some of these tweaks are very welcome, like the "save anywhere, anytime" function in Chrono Trigger and the sped-up battle system in the early Final Fantasy games (which require a lot of grinding). However, some of these tweaks are not-so-welcome, like clunky controls, bad fonts, and softer, spongey-looking sprites.
That being said, these prices are pretty low and probably make up for any shortcomings. Click the links below to buy a few new games!
