It looks like Google is finally going to give Chromecast Ultra users the thing they've always wanted: a remote.
A new Chromecast Ultra has appeared on the Taiwanese certification agency NCC (h/t MySmartPrice). In the certification, Google details a device comprised of two components. There's the Chromecast Ultra itself and a separate remote, which is the main feature Chromecast users have been asking for since the device first rose in popularity.
This isn't the first time we've heard reports of Google adding a Chromecast Ultra remote, as we initially reported on it in March. According to the previous report, the new Chromecast Ultra will be based on the Android TV platform.
Apparently, Google is referring to the Chromecast Ultra itself as the GPJ110 and the remote GPJ100. However, those might not be the final model numbers when the devices actually hit the market at some point.
The Chromecast Ultra remote will also have a microphone. After all, Google's virtual assistant relies on voice commands, and it would be logical for the company to integrate it into its streaming device.
The latest report serves as further confirmation that the device is coming, though we don't know exactly when Google will officially announce and release this new Chromecast Ultra. We are rapidly approaching May, which is when Google I/O would be were it not canceled. Could we see a May release date? Only time will tell.
