We hope you weren't expecting to get your hands on Xiaomi's upcoming Mi Mix Alpha any time soon. According to Abacus, Xiaomi has delayed its futuristic handheld, and the Chinese tech company currently doesn't even have a release date planned.
The device was initially expected to launch this month, but this delay pushes that back for an undisclosed amount of time. Xiaomi said it would release information as soon as possible, but that could mean anything.
Xiaomi first confirmed the Mi Mix Alpha in September. Since then, we have seen information about the device's triple-camera setup — which includes a 108MP shooter — and its 180.6% screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi even showed off the physical device shortly after its announcement, and we know the device should retail for a whopping 20,000 yuan (~$2,800).
We don't exactly know what caused this delay, but given the device's technical endeavors, there could be a million reasons Xiaomi would want to postpone the Mi Mix Alpha's launch. All of those reasons are just speculation until we officially know more information. Android Authority has reached out to Xiaomi for comment but did not hear back by press time.
