Realme has enjoyed massive success since launching in India just over a year ago, owing to its cut-price mid-range and low-end smartphones. We know the company is readying a flagship though, as an executive confirmed the name and processor this week.
Now, the company has officially confirmed details regarding its first flagship, and it's indeed called the Realme X2 Pro. Realme says the new phone sports a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, making it a very powerful device in theory.
There's no word on RAM/storage figures but if it's anything like the Realme XT, then we can expect 4GB to 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage.
A camera for every occasion?
Realme is also bringing a quad rear camera to the new device, delivering a 64MP f/1.8 main camera, for one. The other sensors are a depth lens, an ultra-wide camera with 115 degree field of view, and a telephoto camera with 20x hybrid zoom.
We don't know much else about the camera setup, but a high level of hybrid zoom usually requires a telephoto camera with a high native zoom factor. For example, the Huawei P30 Pro has 10x hybrid zoom from a 5x periscope zoom camera, while the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition gets 10x hybrid zoom from its 6x periscope zoom sensor.
Realme says the new flagship will sport Nightscape 2.0 for low-light shooting, an upgraded image stabilization algorithm, and real-time bokeh in videos.
The Realme X2 Pro will launch in Spain "very soon," the company noted in an emailed press release. But the brand notes that the launch event will take place simultaneously in Asia and Europe. This suggests that China and/or India will get the device too.
We've asked Realme for more pricing information and will update the article if/when they get back to us. For what it's worth, Xiaomi's affordable flagship, the Mi 9T Pro, is available in Europe for roughly €450 (~$490).
