The Moto G family has been going for years now, offering a steady stream of capable, budget-focused smartphones. That tradition continues today as it announces the Moto G8 Plus, and it doesn't seem out of place compared to other mid-range devices launched in late 2019.

Motorola's new handset packs a mid-weight Snapdragon 665 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage. The phone also serves up a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. So far, so 2019 mid-range phone.

The Moto G8 Plus also offers a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS display with a waterdrop notch. And inside the notch you'll find a 25MP camera to handle selfies and video calls.

You'll find another high-resolution camera if you look at the back, as the mid-range Moto packs a 48MP main camera. We've seen numerous devices adopt triple rear cameras in 2019 as well, and the Moto G8 Plus is no different. In addition to the 48MP shooter, you're also getting a 16MP ultra-wide snapper, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Much like the Motorola One Action, the 16MP ultra-wide camera is a solely devoted to videos. And much like the earlier device, the G8 Plus allows you to record landscape videos while holding the phone in portrait orientation. The inability to snap ultra-wide pictures is a rather massive omission though, and it's unclear if the brand plans to implement this feature in a software update.

The new phone packs a variety of camera features too, including Night Vision mode, auto smile capture, portrait lighting, cinemagraphs, Spot Color/Color Pop, and cutout functionality.

Other features found on the Moto G8 Plus include a rear fingerprint scanner, a water-repellent design, USB-C, a 3.5mm port, Android Pie, and Bluetooth 5 connectivity.

The Moto G8 Plus will be available in the UK from October 28, starting at £239 (~$307). The device will be available via Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse, and EE. Indian users can get their hands on the phone via Flipkart at the end of October, priced at Rs 13,999 (~$197).
