Marvel is one of the most successful movie studios to have ever been shown on the silver screen. The success of the film business and history of comic books has led to several TV shows and animated series.
Netflix, being one of the largest streaming platforms on the internet, both streams some of Marvel's biggest films as well as produces several Marvel TV shows. Here is our continuously-updated list of the best Marvel movies and TV shows on Netflix.
Note: Disney's contract with Netflix ends in 2019. After that, content produced by Marvel and other properties belonging to Disney will start to transition over to the upcoming Disney Plus streaming service.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is what jump-started the massive success of superhero movies. Over the past 10 years, Marvel has put out over 22 films, many of which have made it to Netflix.
The biggest downside to watching Marvel movies on Netflix is that the entire collection is not available for streaming. You can watch some of the most recent MCU movies, but you won't be able to enjoy the first Iron Man, which started everything.
At the time of this writing, you are free to stream Avengers: Infinity War in addition to Black Panther, Thor Ragnarok, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Throughout the MCU, you will spot a secret government agency pop up from time to time. S.H.I.E.L.D, short for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, is tasked with protecting the Earth from enemies both domestic and out of this world.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, led by Agent Phil Coulson, tackle problems that take place in single episodes and cause havoc throughout the entire series. Enjoy five commercial-free seasons of one of the best superhero shows on TV.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't a required watch to following along with the MCU, but the events that take place in the movies directly affect the show's storyline.
Jessica Jones
What would happen if a superhero decided to open a detective agency? Well, that's exactly what happens in Netflix's Jessica Jones. Watch the main character, played by Krysten Ritter, cracks cases and takes on enemies.
Although Jessica Jones doesn't play a direct character alongside the Avengers, the series does take place during the MCU. The show, just like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., references key plot points seen in the Marvel movies.
There are three seasons of Jessica Jones available for streaming. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled the show so there won't be any additional episodes in the future.
Netflix also produced five other Marvel TV shows that go hand-in-hand with Jessica Jones. These include Dare Devil, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
Iron Man & Captain America: Heroes United
If you've already watched all of the movies and TV shows associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, check out some of the animated films available on Netflix.
These movies don't have the same production-value as those that hit the silver screen, but they explore stories found in comics.
Similar animated movies on Netflix for your viewing pleasure include Hulk Vs., Doctor Strange, Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United, and Planet Hulk.
