For the last three and a half years, the SteelSeries Stratus XL has been one of the best Bluetooth gaming controllers. At long last, SteelSeries is releasing a new controller called the Stratus Duo.
The controller has been given the Duo name as it can be used with smartphones, Samsung Gear VR, and Oculus Go over Bluetooth and computers over 2.4GHz wireless. Users can jump between the two settings using a physical switch on the accessory.
SteelSeries states that the Stratus Duo features a 20+ hour battery life, durable build quality, and Magnetic Hall Technology for a premium trigger experience.
Honestly, the Stratus Duo's biggest fault is the fact that it charges over microUSB. Whether a controller is made for mobile or desktop gaming, there's almost no excuse for it not to have USB-C in 2019.
Alongside the Stratus Duo, SteelSeries is releasing the SmartGrip. When you're gaming on the go, Bluetooth controllers are nice to have, but they aren't that convenient as you have to set your phone down and prop it up. That's no longer a problem.
With the SmartGrip, users can mount their handsets directly onto the Stratus Duo controller. The phone is held securely in place using the accessory's clips that can be adjusted to fit most devices.
The SteelSeries Stratus Duo is available starting today for $60. The SmartGrip will go on sale in a couple of weeks for just $10.
